Roots Art Reggae Festival 2008

Kuerdas received an invitation to perform at the Roots Art Reggae Festival 2008 in Matina Town Square, Davao City last September 23. Some members of the band were not available so me, Jayson and Mark along with Ellaine and a family friend went to the venue to take part on the event.

It was a one-day event full of activities with the theme: We Be Jammin for Peace. It exhibited performing arts, paintings, conference and reggae drum workshop. The highlight of the event happened in the evening where reggae and ethno artists performed their original songs and also songs popularized by the legendary Reggae artist - Bob Marley.

The audience got irie when Popong Landero and his band played the songs from his single. One of those songs is entitled Jolo where people jumped and sang with.

The most awaited part of the show was the appearance of Papa Dom who is a member of Tropical Depression. Together with him on stage were Rolly Maligad of Cocojam and Rene Chong of Reggae Mistress. They played their popular hits Kapayapaan and Bilog.

Other bands that performed that night were Arangkagana, Comradz, Kalumon, Performing Ensemble, Katribu, Kuerdas, Manong's Island, Reggal, P.L.O.

It was a spectacular night. It makes me feel proud that the band I grew up with has been taking part in this kind of event.
