Super Mom!

A lot of people find my mom eccentric in a lot of ways. She doesn't exactly follow the norms and practises that most people do. She has her own way of living her life. People judge her but she doesn't care. She stands by her principle.

My mom is a very tough woman. That's why I call her a super mom. She brought us up as a single parent since she and my dad broke up when I was a kid. It sounds like a cliche but she makes her nights days because she worked graveyard shifts for years. She sleeps less. A two-hour nap is enough for her especially when she was a lot younger. She never relied on to anyone. She invested her money on lands and properties. She always think for our future.

It took me so long to understand my mother. I used to blame her for not having a normal kind of life. I was rebellious because I used to think that she was too busy to be a mother to us. I longed for a family. I longed for a mom to talk to.

Later did I understand that what she has been doing are for us, her children. I realized that me and my brothers are lucky because we were brought up in decent schools. If not for my mom we wouldn't have graduated in college.

Up until now, in the age of 62, my mom still does a lot of things. She still thinks about how to make her investments grow. I worry about her at times and always tell her to take a break. She should be enjoying the fruits of her labor like taking a vacation somewhere. But then, she would always say that it would just be a waste of money.

She once told me that the only person you can rely on is yourself. Well, to tell you the truth, just like what Sandra Bullock said in her movie - Two Weeks Notice, "my mom is always the voice in my head". Even though we had a lot of fights before, I still keep in mind whatever she tells me. I know it was always for my betterment. She may have faults but I know she didn't mean it. She's not perfect so does those people who judge her. I love my mom no matter what. No one could ever be like her. No one can beat her for being the super mom!
