Just Tired..........


Work has been very tiring today. I got calls from 2 angry women. Well, you can just imagine how upsetting it was. But since we're paid to "help" all types of customers, I sure did handle both calls well. Let me tell you how one call went.

Onset of the call the customer already yells. Oh, not just yells but screams at me and I was wearing the headset at that time. With this kind of irate callers, I normally switch to the phone's handset so that my eardrums won't get hurt that much. Lol! Even when my phone's receiver is 2 inches away from my ears, I can still hear the customer's aggravated voice. Since she doesn't let me talk, I let her yell until she thought I was not on the line anymore. She said, "Hello? Are you still there?". I said, "Yes I'm here." And she started screaming again. I let her yell until she got tired and she kept telling me, "You just can't imagine how aggravated I am". You know what I said? After minutes of hearing her yell, I just coolly said, "Oh, I can actually imagine it ma'am since you have been yelling at me." She kept quiet for a sec then I added empathizing statements like, "I know how upsetting this is, and I may feel the same way if it happened to me. But don't worry, I'll be glad to help you and I assure you that this kind of incident is not going to happen anymore."

After we were able to resolve her issue, the customer apologized to me and said that she's not mad at me but she's just upset about what happened.

Phew! It wasn't just obvious to her that I have been controlling myself since I don't want to be fired from my job. This job is really tiring, isn't it? I hope I won't have too many irate callers tomorrow. So help me God.

wow ally!! I appreciate you're patience..hehehe...naintindihan kita kasi nag trained kami sa call center...yay!! grabe ang insulto ng teacher namin lalo na sa akin...grrrrr..namimilipit kasi ang dila ko...ayon..di na ako nag attend sa graduation...

I feel your pain on this post. I've had multiple jobs where I had to handle irate, or just completely whacky customers with a calm, collected, cool attitude. It is definitely not always easy either.

I've had people throw stuff at me too. That's always fun. At a certain point, you just have to laugh though, because seriously, it really isn't that serious to get so angry. They just come across as crazy to me now.
