Angels And Demons - Movie Review

The movie Angels and Demons is presented as a sequel of the movie The Da Vinci Code. Just like it's predecessor, the movie hit the no. 1 in the box office and gained as much controversy.

Both movies are based on Dan Brown's best selling books. Just like the books, the films are much talked about since it involves the Vatican and outraged the hierarchies of the Catholic church. Director Ron Howard and casts of the movies were even called anti-Catholics.

Angels and Demons is starred by Tom Hanks as the symbologist Robert Langdon. When a physicist Leonardo Vetra was murdered followed by the death of the Pope, the Vatican seek help from Langdon which lead them to discover the secret society- The Illuminati. Upon tracking down the secret brotherhood, Langdon and Vetra's daughter, Vittoria discovered that there was also a conspiracy on the Pope's death and they only have little time to save the four cardinals who are candidates for papacy being kidnapped by the notorious Illuminati. There's not enough time to save Vatican from destruction, too.

I enjoyed watching the movie. It was indeed my money's worth! To those who are intrigued and haven't watched the movie yet, here's the trailer:

Talking about Typhoon???

Typhoon has once again hit Luzon. It really doesn't bother me. It's better than hot climate since I get to sleep well on my slumbers.

However, I also miss summer sometimes. I remember one summer escapade when I get to sit on those outdoor chaise lounges relaxing with my best friend Czarina. That's after the jumping and swimming on the pool. I miss that. I hope we can do that again sometime soon.

Anyways, back to the present climate. My family and relatives back in the province were actually quite alarmed about the typhoon hitting Manila. Ah! I think it's just the media sensationalizing the weather here. I actually don't get too alarmed with the present climate. Or maybe not watching news lately helped not to be frantic. I just phoned my Mom today and she told me to be careful when going to work and take vitamins everyday so I won't get sick. She obviously worries, like other parents does.

I just hope that this weather won't get any worse.

Wishing for Weekend Rest Days

How I wish my rest days are set on Saturdays and Sundays! I am really hoping that our schedule will change next month but unfortunately, the management had it moved on August! I don't have any choice but to wait.

I do a regular 8-hour shift at work everyday for 5 days. But I'm thinking about having it changed to 10-hour shift but I will only get to report to work for 4 days in a week! I think that schedule is better for me because I can get to choose my rest days. I really want a Sunday off since I got a lot of things to do during that day. I have church to attend to and now that I accepted a duty at the treasury, I have to stay longer as needed. With the work schedule I have right now, I am really deprived of sleep on the weekends. I can't even attend to my blogs! My current work schedule really suck! Phew!

Just this Saturday night, I went out with Michelle and her boyfriend Jon to see the movie Angels and Demons. The movie started late and I still have work the following day. I just hate it when my sleep got deprived! I was pretty messed up at work trying so hard to fight my drowsiness! Lol!

Well enough about my whining! I'm hoping I'll get better work schedule come August! For now, I hope you guys who frequently visit this blog and seem to tolerate my rubbish posts would understand why I can't update this blog more often. I guess this is my best excuse! Lol!

Let's enjoy the rest of the week!!!

Getting to know.......

A few months ago, Me and Michelle went to my Dad's hometown in Bulacan. We went there to attend a death anniversary of one of their colleague's relative. We basically went there to eat prawns and crabs since Bulacan is known for having a lot of seafoods.

Anyways, me and my Dad never talked when he was still alive and I never had a chance to ask him about his family nor his ancestry. I just got some vivid information from my mom about him growing up as an orphan and that he struggled a lot while he was growing up. My mom said he is an only child and that he was raised by his relatives. Too bad I never had a chance to ask him about his life when he was still alive.

Sometimes I think about doing ancestry dna or some sort of tracking his life down in Bulacan so I would be able to know my dad and my relatives on his side too. It would take sometime though. I know it's too late but atleast I'd get to meet some relatives and eventually get to know my dad some more.

Rest Day Plans..........

At last it's my rest day from work tomorrow until Thursday! What a relief! It's time for me to do DVD marathon tonight! Lol! And also a chance for me to read the last book of Stephenie Meyer's Twilight saga - Breaking Dawn! Michelle actually gave me the book as a birthday gift! I'm excited about it already! Since it's the final book, I am so much looking forward to more excitement and of course, a happy ending for Bella and Edward!

On Eclipse, the story ended with Jacob going astray with a broken heart after accepting his defeat for his love to Bella. I wonder what's going to happen to him in Breaking Dawn!

Well, I'll definitely make the most of my rest days! I got to start with my DVD marathon now! Goodnight everyone!!!

Noisy Kids in the Building.....

I live in a building here in Makati right now where people with kids also reside. I seldom sleep peacefully especially when I do graveyard shifts. Kids run along the hallway and make a lot of noises. They will only keep quiet if me and Michelle get up from our beds and reprimand them. Phew! Why do their parents let them play in the hallway anyways?

I actually pity these kids. I was once a kid and I understand how good it feels being able to play. However, the building that we live in is not conducive for families who have kids. Children need playgrounds or a house where they can freely run and play at.

I remember when I was a kid, me and my best friend Anne and her little sister Jacquelyn used to play house in their place. After their dad setup the gazebo kits which is placed in their yard, it became our hiding place. We played with their dolls and pretend they are our babies. We pretended to cook in a plastic cooking pans and eat in plastic little plates and other little kitchen utensils. It was really fun!

Back to the kids here. I just hope their parents would be able to provide them a house where they can be free.

I need a breather!!!

Summer is over. It's now winter season here in the Philippines. I love it because I get to sleep well on my slumbers. However, since it has been raining, I don't like going out a lot. I'd rather stay in the house, do movie marathons or read novels with my cup of coffee. Besides I don't want to get sick because of the rain.

Too bad that summer has ended with me stuck at work. I haven't spent vacation yet since I got transferred to the new account. But I really wanted to have a vacation one of these days. I might end up on one of those Orlando Vacations!!! Hah! Dreamer!

Seriously, I think I need to take a break before I get burnt out with work. It has been stressful lately although I have been doing good with my metrics. I need a breather! Lol! Got to file for a vacation leave one of these days!

A Fan of Nora Jones

I have been a fan of Nora Jones ever since I heard her song "Don't Know Why" which was included on her debut album "Come Away With Me". It won Album of The Year at the Grammys in 2003. Her music was embraced by a lot of people because the combination of mellow, acoustic with soul and jazz in her songs are really relaxing to listen to! I was even more amazed when I learned that she play piano on most of her concerts. I just love the unplugged versions of her songs! It make me think about relearning my piano skills.

During my freshman and sophomore years in high school, I actually had piano lessons in the Adventist school where my mom enrolled me at. I just love that experience! Even though I was alone in the big auditorium in the school the whole day, I wasn't scared at all. I loved it when I was able to memorize the piano pieces that I picked for the recitals in that school. The first time I joined the piano recital (my Dad was there by the way)I won the first prize! I was so glad I made my father proud of me that day!

Playing the piano is actually one of my best experiences in music. I was just not able to further hone that craft since I never owned that wonderful piece of music instrument - the piano. My Dad actually said that he'd buy me one but it never happened. I promised myself though that when I get rich, I'd buy one for myself! Lol! Who knows? I can also be a piano teacher!

Happy Mother's Day, Nanay!!!

Dear Nanay,

Thank you for everything especially for raising all three of us, your children. Even though we have a lot of differences, I really feel blessed to have a Mom like you. Thank you for teaching me how to be tough and thanks for loving me despite my stubbornness. I know I have caused you a lot of heartaches and you know I'm really sorry for all of my foolishness. As you can see, I have grown to be a decent woman and that's all because of you. I love you, Nay and I want you to know how grateful I am for having a wonderful Mom like you!

Happy Mother's Day to you!!!

Dress Down Incentive! Yahoo!!!

I like it when our team at work gets the dress down incentive for the whole month. I get to wear my jeans and t-shirts, and also my comfy sneakers at work! That's the outfit I'm comfortable with. However, when I checked my closet, I realized that I don't have enough t-shirts for the whole month. I'm actually planning to visit the mall and check out some printed shirts which I can pair with my sneakers. That is, if I still have the time. Or else, I'll end up ordering them online. One of my friends told me that she bought way too cheap branded shoes online for herself. She's planning to show it off once she receives the package.

Well, online shopping is really convenient especially to those who doesn't have the time to go to malls. I love sneakers and would definitely check out some shoe-store websites like Dansko. It has been a long time since I bought my last pair of sneakers.

Anyways, having to wear comfortable outfit at work is what our team's goal each month. We were advised to have perfect attendance so we won't have to wear business outfits at work. I actually don't have any problem with dress ups. It's just that since it has been raining lately, I'd rather put on my comfy outfit.

17 Again...

I slept over at Czarina's house after we did a celebration of her 26th birthday the other night. We went in a karaoke bar and sang our hearts out with her younger sisters and her 6-year-old daughter-Czij! All of us had fun that night. And as usual, I sang a lot of the celebrant's favorite songs!

Since me and Czarina seldom see each other, we spent another day together the next day and talked about a lot of things.

We went to the mall and watched the movie 17 Again which is starred by the handsome kid, Zac Efron as Mike O'Donnel.

Mike O'Donnel was a basketball star when he was in high school. He left the game when his girlfriend, Scarlet, revealed that she was pregnant. They got married but after 17 years, he was never happy and even blamed his wife for what he has become. They were in the process of getting divorced when Mike magically become 17 again! By that time, he was able to spend time with his children in school. Of course, the kids didn't know that he was their father!

When he was young again, Mike lived with his nerd but very rich best friend Ned Freedman (Thomas Lennon). Since he needed to go back to high school, Ned acted as his father. Thomas was really funny in his role in this movie!

It was a nice movie! If me and Czarina are 8 years younger, we might be giggling on our seats while watching the movie. Lol! We enjoyed the rest of the day together! Most importantly, I enjoyed spending my day with my best friend reminiscing the old days! Well, we were like 17 again!

Missing My Mom

I called my mom yesterday since I haven't heard from her lately. She told me she is now limping because of her knees. And that she has to go to the doctor. I felt bad about it. Thinking about her in that helpless situation make me feel guilty for not being there. Although my eldest brother, Alex is with her, it's still different if I was the one taking care of her.
During the phone call, she kept telling me not to worry that much because she's just fine. And yes she sounded alright. Yet that still make me uneasy thinking about my supposed obligation as a daughter.
We talked about other things. About her getting old and her bestfriend who is suffering from some sort of cancer (I hope not mesothelioma since she has been working in a factory most of her life and might have inhaled a lot of asbestos). Mom said she's still lucky because she doesn't suffer like her bestfriend. Just a little uncomfortable when she walks. And then she laughs. And then the phone got cut off.
I miss my mom. I hope I can go home sometime soon so I can get to see her.

Facial Session...

I just had my facial session done today. Sometimes it make me think twice about having it done because I hate how it feels every time a blackhead remover prick my face. It really hurts! But as the cliche goes - no pain, no gain! So do I have a choice? I need to at least look presentable. So I have to endure the pain of the pricks so I could be prettier, right? Lol!

Here are some benefits of getting a facial:
  • It helps release stress since the facial massages helps the blood circulate properly. It also help relax the muscles on the face.
  • Facial can help reduce skin acne and other skin issues. Deep cleansing during facial make the skin more radiant and clean since it involves removal of dirt and blackheads.
  • It helps fight skin aging, reduce wrinkles and minimize blemishes.

Labor Day '09

It's Labour Day! It was supposed to be a holiday but most of us, call center agents, still are obliged to work today. We received a lot of calls and it was pretty tiring. But the truth is, no matter how stressful our day went today, it really doesn't matter because the thought of getting double pay definitely brightened our day.

Labor Day is as usual rally day here in the Philippines. With too much going on in our country lately, a lot of people protest about all sorts of things. But today, rallies are focused mainly on wage increase. If my father is still alive, I'm pretty sure he's one of those protesters who parade on the streets. Fighting for the rights of the workers.

Today, the local government also held job fairs on some parts of the country for the increasing numbers of unemployed citizens. I hope there will be enough jobs for millions of them!

To those on vacation, enjoy the rest of the day!

Happy First of May and Happy Birthday to my beautiful Aunt Rose who is Lainy's mom! May you have many more birthdays to come! God bless! I love you Tita!!!
