Supposed to help...

With the turmoil going on around us, the worst thing that could happens is that there are companies who remain close-fisted in helping people that are in dire need. One example is the car insurance companies who aren't going to pay people who's cars were soaked by the flood and been rendered unusable. They said that damages caused by "acts of God", including natural calamities like flood, are not covered by most insurance policies. These companies are cold-hearted. This should be the time that we should be helping each other. If only these victims of the calamity can get themselves good lawyers like those Mesothelioma lawyers who will be able to defend their case.

Oh boy! Much of the turmoil, isn't it? We're supposed to be helping one another.

In Times Like This...

It has been a long day today. I am so tired. Michelle, Czarina and I, along with Michelle's two other friends went to ABS-CBN Foundation this morning to volunteer in packing food for the victims of the disastrous typhoon "Ondoy". We also brought with us some clothes for donation.

Let me just give you guys some quick update about the recent calamity here in Metro Manila. Some fellow countrymen were rescued from their rooftops just today. They starved since Saturday. In some places, the flood had ceased but all left of the people were houses full of mud and worst, lost loved ones. It's not only the poor people have become victims of this tragedy. Even the rich who live in grandiose houses were not exempted.

The government was not prepared for this. They fell really short with equipments this time since it's not only cities here in Metro Manila needed help but also some other provinces in Luzon.

Private companies together with Non-Government Organizations have already given their share of goodwill. Ordinary citizens also donated clothes and money and volunteered to help.

In times like this, we all need each other. A little help will be much appreciated!

A Silly Thought for Michelle's Wedding Gift

It's funny because when I heard about Jon's proposal to my cousin Michelle, I never even thought about them planning for their wedding just yet. I was even surprised when Michelle mentioned about getting married on October of next year. I was like, what??? Is it gonna be next year already??? And then Michelle gave me a light spanking on my head! Of course, they're about to get married! What was I thinking???

Anyways, I'm thinking about buying her an adult school girl costume she could wear on her bridal shower? Or what about making it a wedding gift so she can wear it on her honeymoon? How's that? LOL! Just a silly thought, you know!

Experience with Typhoon "Ondoy"

The typhoon "Ondoy" hit Metro Manila yesterday.

While I was at work, I never realized how hard the rain was until Lowela, Debbie and I were on our way home. The wait at a shed in Ayala Avenue was agonizing. The rain poured so hard and it was accompanied with strong winds. The umbrellas we brought didn't help us as we got all wet just standing for about an hour waiting for a ride home.

We hurried to a jeepney half thankful that one did came and halted right in front of us. To our dismay, the jeepney can't take us to our destination. Streets from Buendia going to Pasong Tamo were already flooded. We didn't have any choice but try and look for any other means to get home. Fortunately we found one!

Here's a photo of me and Lowela waiting for our ride.

Thank God we arrived home safely. We didn't report to work today since the flood hasn't subsided yet.

The typhoon was all over the news. Other parts of Luzon experienced worst conditions brought about by "Ondoy". According to the weather forecast, "Ondoy" is on its way to West Norwest of Luzon. The provinces of Pangasinan, Zambales, Bataan and Lubang Island will experience rains and gusty winds. I hope the Typhoon will finally get out of the country because it has already caused too much damages.

I feel sorry for those who lost their houses and who lost their loved ones during this tragedy. Please help me pray for my fellow countrymen who were greatly affected by this calamity.

Working on Weekends...

I'm still trying to get used to my new schedule at work. Instead of the 5 by 8 shift (that's 5 days, 8 hours), it's now 4 by 10(4 days, 10 hours). So I have to go to work 4 days in a row and get 3 days straight offs. I was scared at first when I was told about the new schedule because I worry about my health. I thought I might get too stressed out and might end up getting sick again. But on the first week, I'm kind of liking the schedule. I'm just lucky I got transferred to this account which is not too stressful compared to my previous account which was a technical account.

Anyways, today is the last day of my rest day. I'm getting ready to take a rest after a day of doing my laundry (which once again got my hands wounded). Michelle kept telling me to wear a pair of work gloves but I'm just too stubborn to do so. I just got used to doing my laundry with my bare hands! Or am I just being a masochist? Lol!

Time to get some rest guys! I'm working on weekends, just so you know... I hope you'd enjoy your weekend while I'm at work! Hah! I'm just being bitter! Take care y'all!!!

Michelle and Jon, Engaged Finally!!!

My dear cousin Michelle of Mystique's Moments and her long time boyfriend Jon finally got engaged! Jon proposed on his birthday bash earlier this month. I wasn't there to witness it. Blame it to the bad weather that day! :)

Anyways, I'm happy for you my dear cuz! May God bless you and Jon! Love you!

Congratulations to both of you and for the upcoming wedding!!!

Acne Breakout and Old Age

I had an acne breakout on my back and shoulders last month. I got quite worried especially when they started showing up on my face. I was about to go to a dermatologist to stop the acne spread. Good thing Lowela, a friend of mine who's also my roommate, introduced to me an acne soap which actually ceased the breakout! I was relieved because I finally got rid of the ugliness that those pimples could make me! Lol! I am not totally vain but as much as possible, I don't want pimples to be all over my face! Who would want that anyway? hahahaha! I'm talking nonsense! When I grow old, I might get scared of wrinkles showing on my face. So I am up to using wrinkle cream if it's necessary! Talking about old age! Duh!

Recent discussions with mom...

I had another discussion with my Mom over the phone this weekend. She wanted me to come home so that we can start building something on the small piece of land she bought in the province. She asked me to start saving for it so that we can build the apartment she wanted. I disagreed to her plan because I wanted a home built on that land. A house that I can call my own which could be fully furnished even if it's just a simple home. It would be fine if it's not air-conditioned or doesn't have furnace filters in it. I just wanted to have a home where I would love to spend time with her and my brothers. I just hope we could come up to something agreeable to both of us. It's going to take sometime though. I have to buy my laptop first this year before I can start saving to get home and start the planning of the house. I think I have to get a part time job in order to earn and save some more.

Boring Update...

These past 3 days have been busy days for me. I apologize if I haven't dropped back my EC pals. I've been out of town. I went to Punta Fuego on Wednesday until Thursday with colleagues. I will be posting some photos soon. Not today, unfortunately since my eyes are already drooping. I feel so tired. I accompanied a sickly colleague to a doctor since she wasn't well at work today. I will posting updates tomorrow, I hope. It's going to be another schedule change at work next week. I'll be working 10 hours a day for four days in a week. I hope I would be able to get used to the new schedule and won't get sick. So help me, God...

Goodnight for now, friends! Sorry for the boring update!

Pretty Sheila

I would like to introduce a new friend of mine. Her name is Sheila. She's pretty and smart and a very hardworking woman. I sometimes tease her as someone who has ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) because she's very enthusiastic and most of the time puts too much pressure on herself to get good metrics at work. Here she is!

I went out with her one time and slept over at her condo. I told her about blogging and she's interested to also create her own website and blog. She's planning to buy a new laptop since her notebook right now is a mini-laptop where you would have a hard time typing your fingers on the keypad. she also have to use free online backup because it doesn't have enough space for backup.

This friend of mine has been sickly lately and every time we go out, there's always an appointment with her physician. I hope she gets well soon so that we won't be talking about her being sick when we chat at work! Lol!

Taylor Got Humiliated at MVMA 2009

]The 19-year-old country singer Swift Taylor won the Best Female Video award on MTV Video Music Award for the video "You Belong With Me". She was really surprised to have won the award. Everybody seemed to be happy for her until the obnoxious Kanye West grabbed her microphone during her acceptance speech.

No one saw that coming. Even Beyonce didn't like it! Who did Kanye West think he was? He's not the only person who made the votes! He's just plainly stupid, I guess.

Poor Taylor got humiliated. People booed Kanye and made a standing ovation for Taylor when she went down the stage.

It was nice for Beyonce to invite Taylor back on stage when she accepted the Best Video Award for "Single Ladies". This time, Taylor was able to complete her interrupted speech.

"Wow, this is amazing," Beyonce said. "I remember being 17-years-old and up for my first MTV award with Destiny's Child. It was one of the most exciting moments in my life. So, I'd like for Taylor to come out and have her moment."

Anticipating Kuya Charlie's Email

I got online yesterday after making myself get tired of being a bum on my 2 days off. I actually watched old movies from the DVD collections and never really made something productive. So I decided to checkout friends' photos and updates over the internet. I read a few comments and actually got surprised because when I checked my 2nd blog, my long lost step brother posted a message on my guest book! I wonder how he found me. He didn't leave his email address though. I'm hoping he'd get back to my blog and read my post asking him to get in touch with me. I hope to communicate with him again, either via email or via a live chat software. I just want to know what are the on goings on his life. I don't even have an idea if he already have a family. The last time I saw him was on our Dad's burial. No communication after that.

I'll anticipate Kuya Charlie's email soon.

I don't deserve a failing scorecard

I was very disappointed with my new supervisor lately. The last time I checked my scorecard at work, I discovered I failed my metrics this month. Although she told me that it wasn't the final grade yet, I am still worried because I never really wanted to fail! I put enough effort in my job and I know I did well this month and definitely don't deserve the scorecard that she showed me.

I was told that the correct scorecard should be due next week. I hope she'll show me an accurate scorecard. I understand that she's a newbie as a supervisor and she handled our team in just 3 weeks. If only I don't hear her complain about her tasks and that she give us correct updates about our metrics, I wouldn't be pissed like this. It's not only me who's complaining about the scorecard, almost all of us in the team do.

I just hope this anguish about the scorecard won't get any worse. Our team have been through a lot these past 2 months. I just don't think we deserve this. I am expecting good results since I'm aiming for career advancement. How will I get that if I'm not given the grades that I deserve? I do my job well and I don't deserve a failing scorecard!

Sluggish Me!!!

I miss my planned jogging early this morning, again! I promised myself to do this on my rest days. As usual, laziness struck once again! I woke up late although I set up my alarm at 5 am. What a sluggish me! So I just made breakfast for everyone at 6am - sunny side up and fried eggplant. Huh! Goodluck to my tummy! I just added some percentage of cholesterol! Lol! I think I would need one of those weight loss pill!

Tried to see Ka Erdy

Last night, my cousin Willie and I decided to go to Ka Erdy's wake at the temple in Quezon City with hopes to see him for the last time. We left the apartment at around 10pm last night. It was raining hard when we were on our way.

It was about 11pm when we arrived in Quezon Avenue. The wait to get a ride going to the temple was already frustrating since a lot of Iglesia Ni Cristo members are also on their way there. Buses and jeepneys routed to SM Fairview are already full so we have to walk few kilometers to get a ride.

We made it to the temple at around 12am. The queue to get inside the temple is longer than we thought! There were hundreds of people who came from different provinces waiting in line. Some came all the way from Visayas and Mindanao. This is expected since it was announced that Ka Erdy's funeral is set on 12 noon of Monday, September 7th.

We tried to stay on queue until past 3am. The crowd got thicker every minute and I tried to not get suffocated since I got pushed in the middle of the crowd. When we realized that the line isn't moving fast, Willie and I decided to go home and watch the wake on Net25. I don't want to embarrass myself by fainting since I lack sleep and I was already getting claustrophobic. When we were heading back, they announced that the viewing will temporary stop at 4am and resume at 8am.

We went home last night a bit disappointed. We just contented ourselves viewing Ka Erdy's wake on TV today. It would have been better if I was able to get inside the temple and see Ka Erdy. (Sigh!)

We Will Miss You Ka Erdy

I bet most of you, especially Filipinos, heard about the death of our church leader Bro. Erano "Ka Erdy" Manalo. It's a difficult time for us since he is such a great leader.

When I got the message from a friend about his death, I really couldn't believe it until my cousin Michelle told me that Bro. Bienvenido Santiago already made the announcement on TV.

Here's what he said:

"Ikinalulungkot naming ipabatid sa buong Iglesia at sa buong sambayanan na ang tagapamahalang pangkalahatan ng Iglesia ni Cristo, ang kapatid na Eraño G. Manalo ay pinagpahinga na ng Diyos. Pumanaw siya sa kanyang tahanan sa ganap na 3:53 kahapon Agosto 31, 2009, sa gulang na 84 na taon."

Translation in English:

"We regret to announce to the whole Church and to the whole nation that the Executive Minister of Iglesia ni Cristo, our brother Eraño G. Manalo, has been laid to rest by God. He passed away at his home at 3:53 yesterday afternoon, August 31, 2009 at the age of 84."

We love you Ka Erdy! We will truly miss you...

I want to learn and earn more!

I have mentioned a lot of times here that one of the reasons I decided to blog is to earn money from it. I am currently employed but I'm wanting to earn some more money. So far, I have withdrawn funds from my PayPal account which I acquired from the posts that I got paid for. I'm still looking around and check out some other opportunities on the web. I might even look into paid web directories to improve my website's rank because who knows, I might venture into Search Engine Optimization the future? Lol! That's a long way to go but I'll give it a shot. I want to learn some more of this stuff and eventually earn some more!
