RED - Retired Extremely Dangerous

RED - Retired Extremely Dangerous. It's an action-comedy film about a team of retired CIA agents who tries to live a serene, normal life when all of sudden they're lives are threatened by assassins. They become threats of CIA operations since they have learned information that they're not supposed to know.

Bruce Willis as Frank is back in action! He still look good at his age though. When he was on his way to courting the only woman she often talk to over the phone for his checks - Sarah (Mary-Louise Parker), he was attacked by several assassins at his home. Frank then seek help from other former agents: Joe (Morgan Freeman) - the happy-go-lucky, the funny paranoid Marvin (John Malkovich), and the beautiful Victoria (Helen Mirren). Of course, he have to bring along Sarah with him since her life is also in danger because she got involved with him.

They all worked together in finding out who ordered their assassination and ended up saving the Americans from a group of antagonists who wants to dominate the American government.

It's an action packed film where you wouldn't think that these former CIA agents happen to have read insurance quote. Their lives are always in danger, why not get insured, right? LOL! The action is incorporated with comedy so you'll definitely have fun watching it. Might even be surprised with how smart yet classy Helen Mirren looked when she has a machine gun in hand! :D

Frozen - A Movie Not For Judith :D

We were watching the movie "Frozen" at Julie's home earlier. It's a movie about friends who loves skiing but for some unfortunate event, got stranded on a chairlift in the middle of a snow storm. You can just imagine the cold and frustration that these poor kids feel while left in the cold. They have to find a way out no matter what it takes than get frozen to death.

While watching the film, Julie and I talked about not being able to survive the cold ourselves. Both of us suffer arthritis when we get so cold. We would badly need for treatments for arthritis if we opt to live in a country that has very cold weather. We wouldn't dare to even ski or play on the snow! LOL!

We weren't in the middle of the movie yet when Judith asked us to stop playing the film. We were on the part where one of the kids decided to jump from the chairlift and ended up literally breaking both his legs! Gruesome! She doesn't like watching this kind of film, actually. Since it's her birthday she doesn't like any negative vibes! We ended up watching a romantic movie.

Watched A Movie For Guys - The Expendables

I watched a "man's" movie the other day - The Expendables. Why I said it's a "man's" movie? Well, it's action packed, bloody, a lot of muscles showcased and bones cracking in it! Ouch! Not exactly the type of film I would normally pick in a movie house. It's like watching another Rambo movie all over again! haha! I had fun watching it with my friend Jodi.

I was curious about the movie not only because it was starred, written, produced and directed by Sylvester Stallone, I was also curious about all the other action veterans who are in the film!

Jason Statham, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren, Terry Crews, Randy Couture and Stallone make up the Expendables who are a team of mercenaries who are tasked to bring down a ruthless dictator, David Zayas, in South America. Ah! The battle was really bloody and fiery! There were scenes where Stallone was really beaten up for real by the big man, Steve Austin. That's because Sly asked him to. That part of the movie looked realistic! Just like all his other films, Stallone don't need a double for most of his stunts! It just amazes me because at 63, he still have the capability of making unbelievable stunts. He's actually still in good shape!

Mickey Rourke's role in the movie is Sly's brother who looks pretty much like a DOM (Dirty Old Man) haha! He does Sly's tattoos and plays dart with Statham using their knives.

Bruce Willis and Arnold Schwarzenegger had cameo roles in the movie. I thought both of them were part of the Expendables. Unfortunately they weren't.

When the movie ended, Jodi and I concluded that it is indeed a movie for guys! My uncles and cousins back in the province would love watching this film! They are Rambo fans, actually. :D

Had A Blast Today With Boyet and Mary Joy

I invited my brother and my sis-in-law to go out today. We had Burger King for lunch then we watched the movie The Grown Ups afterward.

The movie house at Glorrietta in Ayala roared up in laughter while we were there watching the movie. It was really fun seeing all those famous comedians in just one movie - Adam Sandler, Kevin James, Chris Rock, David Spade, Rob Schneider. Ah! They made all of us laugh in our seats while hearing their funny lines and seeing their hilarious acts. I'm glad all three of us decided to watch this movie instead of Inception.

After the movie, we went to buy the chair which is my brother's replacement to what he destroyed this morning. I don't want to go back online not comfortable while doing my online chores.

We bought groceries for this week. Headed home and divulged on my recipe for the day - milk fish stewed in vinegar (paksiw na bangus). :D I still feel bloated right now!

I'm up since 4 o'clock this morning because I started my day by doing church service. Now it's time to end my day! I had a blast with Boyet and Mary Joy. I'm going to do this again with them some other time.

G'night everyone!

Letters To God

Hope is contagious....

That's a tag line from the movie Letters To God which I have watched last week. I've been doing movie marathon since I got lazy about rendering overtimes at work during my rest days. And it has been raining a lot lately so I preferred hibernating in my apartment and watch movies.

I came across this inspiring movie - Letters To God which is about a boy, Tyler, who have cancer. He's a happy child despite of his condition. He's surrounded with love not only from his family but the whole community. During the course of his sickness, he writes letters to God everyday. He puts it in an envelope, seals it, and mails the letters. A confused postman named Brady McDaniels, who also is going through tough times at that time, doesn't know what to do with the letters. Until he realizes God's plan. Tyler is God's instrument to the community. That despite all the hardships in life, there still Hope in God.

It turned out the Brady and the whole community learned to communicate to God by writing letters to Him. Some may have sent postcards and learned postcard printing or find their own ways to communicate with God.

Here's the trailer of the video:

Dakota And The Movie: Dreamer

Dakota Fanning is one of the child actresses whom I really find adorable during her much younger years. I have watched a lot of her movies.

Lately she starred as one of the vampires in the famous box-office Twilight Saga. Her character there isn't that adorable anymore. Talking about her looking really cold. Lol! Of course! Because she's a vampire!

I've also seen her in the movie "The Runaways" where she portrayed the lead vocalist of the '70's all-female band, Cherrie Currie. She's a wild kid in the movie but I find her really pretty.

There was this family movie where she was like 6 or 7 years old or much younger which I find really touching. The movie is called Dreamer: Inspired by a True Story. It's about a girl who longed for her father's love and attention. Both father and daughter get reunited because of the love for an injured horse named Sonya.

Although it's about horse tack and racetracks, the movie really didn't focus on those things. It's a family film that's so touching and inspiring.

The Joneses - Movie Review

I didn't really want to go to sleep yet when I got home from work yesterday so I opted to watch the movie "The Joneses". It was quite an interesting movie and I really enjoyed watching it. Demi Moore is still darned gorgeous!

The Joneses is a movie about a picture-perfect family. They live in an enormous house with luxury cars and gadgets and they wear designer's outfits. Headed by Kate (Demi Moore) and Steve Jones (David Duchovny) with their teenagers Jenn (Amber Heard) and Mick (Ben Hoolingsworth) they individually looked perfect together. They move in a nice suburban neighborhood where I think people with homeowners insurance live. The Joneses moved there not only to live the American dream, but also to sell it.

You read it right! They are there to sell! They're actually a fake family who were hired by a stealth marketing company. Rather than spending for the advertisement of the products, they make their products worn and used by each of the Joneses to make everyone in the neighborhood buy the products. Isn't it a unique marketing scheme? You can't even tell that they're sales people!

With Steve's feelings for Kate getting real each day, and Jen's and Mick's personal issues, it will hold up the business' success. The facade gets revealed after a tragedy which will soon make Steve realize that money is less important than living a life that's real.

Movie Treat: The Last Airbender

I enjoyed a movie treat yesterday at SM Mall Of Asia's Director's Club. It wasn't on 3D but I enjoyed the complimentary recliner seats and the free drinks and pop corn! I was lucky that my friend Lowela invited me to join their team to watch the movie The Last Airbender for free! Thanks much Welalou and Team Chang!!!

The movie is a story of a boy named Aang (Noah Ringer) who's destined to be the Avatar and the last of his kind. He has the power to control all four elements: Air, Water, Earth and Fire.

After a century of disappearance, he came back and learned that the Fire Nation dominated over all the other elements and eradicated his kind - the Air Nomads.

With the help of his friends Katara and Sokka who are siblings from the Water Tribe, he continued the quest to master "Waterbending" and fulfill his destiny to restore peace to the world.

I haven't watched the animated television series Avatar: The Last Airbender. Not a fan of it actually. But I like the movie! It is the first of the planned trilogy, that's why the movie ends up introducing the next enemy of the Avatar, The Fire Nation's princess. We are yet to know her on the upcoming saga!

Here's the trailer of the movie!

The Twilight Saga: Eclipse

I watched the Twilight Saga: Eclipse yesterday with friends at Greenbelt 3, Makati. I have read the Twilight series last year and actually became a fan of Stephenie Meyer's since then. I got my last book: Breaking Dawn as a birthday gift from my cousin Michelle last year.

I love the movie! It's action-packed! New-born vampires against the Collins and their unexpected team-up with the were-wolves to save Bella. Victoria, who never tired to take revenge for her lost love, was the one behind the army of new-born vampires.

Bella and Edward's love intensifies yet it appears that Bella also love the HOT were-wolf, Jacob. Yeah right! Bella's torn between unusual lovers! Makes us girls envy her! Grrr!

Well, girls, Jacob is most of the time shirtless here. Haha! Made the movie all the more enjoyable for me! Looking at his sexy bod make me think about testosterone booster reviews I read. Do you think he takes something for that gorgeous muscles??? Anyway, he's got this line for Edward when they were inside the tent, in the midst of the storm wherein Bella was shivering miserably, "I'm way HOTTER than you are!". That's his way of telling Edward that Bella needs his 109 degree body heat to keep her warm. :D I also think he meant that literally! LOL! I really love this scene even when I was just reading the book.

The movie also showcased Rosalie and Jasper's story of their becoming vampires. Lea and Seth Clearwater's appearance as part of the "pack" were a big help in fighting the new-born vampires. And the most awaited, Edward's proposal to Bella.

I left the movie house smiling and really feeling contented with the movie. I am now all the more excited on watching the last series: Breaking Dawn!

For those who haven't watched the movie yet, here's the trailer:

Prince Of Persia: The Sands Of Time

As planned, the birthday girl - Joanna and I with our friend Sunday, went to watch the movie Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time yesterday afternoon. It was a weekend so the movie house was packed as expected! I'm actually not used to watching movies on weekends because of the crowd. That's why I'm grateful that my rest days from work fall on weekdays. :D

Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time is based on a video game about a prince who teamed up with a princess to save the world from the enemies. I never played the game, unfortunately. I'm not into video games even when I was young anyways.

A typical story of good versus evil which is set in the lands of Persia. Dastan (Jake Gyllenhaal) who grew up as a young boy in the slums of Persia was adopted by King Sharaman (Ronald Pickup) after seeing his courage while being chased by the King's men in the market. He grew up as a Prince and a mighty warrior. His life changed after successfully invading the Holy City of Alamut where he found a mystical dagger that brings him to his Destiny.

After knowing the importance of the dagger from the beautiful Princess Tamina (Gemma Arterton), together they made their way to saving the world from Dastan's Uncle who actually planned the killing of King Sharaman and the invasion of Alamut so he can have an ultimate power from the dagger. Prince Dastan and Princess Tamina have to deal with the tax evaders, the Hassansins, the snakes which by the way scared me the most! Grrrr!

To sum it all up, the movie was great! They've got amazing effects, great stunts and great story! I'm just glad we didn't watch it in 3D. Or else those freaking snakes will look sooo real! LOL! But to those who want the feel of the effects in the movie, I bet it's nice to watch it on 3D! Just don't tell me that I didn't warn you about the snakes! :D

Planning To Watch Prince of Persia

Joanne and I are planning to watch the movie Prince of Persia this weekend. It has been the talk of the town lately so I kind of got interested into seeing the movie. I am actually thinking twice about spending for the movie since I'm in a tight budget. Joanne wanted to watch it in 3D which is worth twice the ordinary movie ticket. Geez! I better check my budget. If only we have a dvd player matched with a home theater seating here in the room, I'd be contented watching it here.

Well, I haven't watched a movie lately. Why not treat myself this week?

Anyway, here's the trailer of the movie.

A Nightmare on Elm Street

My roommate, Joanna and I were trying to get some sleep yesterday afternoon when all of a sudden the electricity went off! It was tremendously hot and we didn't have a choice but to go out and watch a movie. Go somewhere where we can breathe! LOL! It felt like hell in our room without electricity.

So we met up with our friend, Sunday at Greenbelt, Makati and ended up watching a horror flick - A Nightmare on Elm Street. Too early for Halloween, isn't it? :D I'm not into horror movies but I allowed my younger companions to pick the film. So I went ahead and watched it with them anyway.

It was about a bunch of teenagers haunted by the famous Freddy Krueder in their dreams. He actually tries to kill them with his fingers made of knives. To not get themselves killed, these kids try very hard not to go to sleep. Or else, it will end their lives!

Here's a trailer if you guys are up for some thrill and suspense:

Watched Valentine's Day With Czarina

Czarina and I watched Valentine's Day yesterday instead of Nicholas Spark's Dear John because we decided not to cry on a movie.

Valentine's Day is a star-studded film which topped the box-office since it premiered in time for Valentine's Day.

Here are the casts:

Jessica Alba, Kathy Bates, Jessica Biel, Bradley Cooper, Eric Dane, Patrick Dempsey, Hector Elizondo, Jamie Foxx, Jennifer Garner, Topher Grace, Anne Hathaway, Ashton Kutcher, Queen Latifah, Taylor Lautner, George Lopez, Shirley MacLaine, Emma Roberts, Julia Roberts, Taylor Swift.

The movie was about different people's experience on a Valentine's Day. Most part, lovers in the film had a happy ending, others didn't and ended up loveless. Some found love unexpectedly and some just realize that love was just right in front of them after all. Just like the best-friends-turned-lovers in the movie (Kutcher and Garner). There were young lovers like the 2 famous Taylors. And the surprising twists in the story is really unforgettable! LOL!

The"L-O-V-E" month hasn't ended yet. Not too late to see the movie for those who haven't seen it yet!

Another Day With Czarina

Me and my best friend Czarina was jus done watching the movie Valentine's Day. It's a star-studded film which obviously talks about love. :D I'll be posting more about the movie later on.

Anyways, we enjoyed the film. There were a bunch of stunning actresses and gorgeous men with sexy abs and all, I think they take muscle supplements aside from going to the gym. Nice twists and surprises in the movie. It was really fun.

I'm taking advantage of the free WIFI here at Robinson's mall. :D

Here are some of the photos for the day.

Best buddies!!!

Who's the cutest? LOL!

Always having fun when with my best friend!!!

Paranormal Activity - Movie Review

Just at home because of being sick. Good thing I bought DVD's so Wela and I could watch some nice movies that we missed on the theaters.

Earlier, we were watching Paranormal Activity. It was about a couple - Katie and Micah who's been living together for three years. Katie disclosed to Micah that she's been haunted by an entity since she was 8. The latter is kind of skeptical about it so he bought a video camera to film whatever this entity does to them. Katie talked with her psychic who deals with ghosts and was told that they should call a demonologist since the psychic cannot deal with the entity that is in their household. The stubborn Micah tried to fix it on his own until it got worst.

It was a different kind of scary movie. Wela and I watched it with the lights open because we don't want to get scared that much! Lol! It was great, really. And kind of realistic. See for yourself!!!

Movie Review - In My Life

After volunteering to pack canned goods and noodles for victims of Typhoon "Ondoy" the other day, Michelle, Czarina and I with 2 other friends decided to watch the movie "In My Life" at Trinoma Mall in North Edsa. It was a much-talked-about movie because of it being gay-themed. Starred by Luis Manzano and John Lloyd Cruz with the star-for-all-seasons, Vilma Santos.

Mark (Luis Manzano) is an advertising executive who was based in New York. He and his partner Noel (John Lloyd) who is an illegal immigrant, later discovers that Mark has colon cancer.

Mark's bitter mom, Shirley (Vilma Santos) decided to move to New York with him. The abrupt decision surprised everyone especially Mark since she doesn't know anything about his condition.

It's a heartwarming movie. The lines delivered were superb! Luis and John Lloyd did great in the movie knowing that they're both not gay in real life! I know a lot of Filipino families will definitely relate to this movie. Just don't forget to bring a hanky because it's really gonna make you cry!

I really love the movie! I'm planning to buy a DVD copy one's it's out in the market.

Here's the trailer.

Movie Review: G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra

I and my cousin Willie watched G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra today at the mall. I have read and heard a lot of great things about the movie so I decided to watch it with Willie.

I have vivid memories of G.I. Joe toys that I used to play with my brothers when we were kids. I don't really like playing dolls on my early years. My dolls are just placed by my mom in the display cabinets. They got ruined when my younger brother decided to get them out of the cabinet and dismantle them. He was a curious kid and usually do it on all toys especially my dolls. I really didn't mind him doing it on the dolls. My mom was the one who got mad when she saw the damage and my brother ended up getting spanked.

Anyways, back to G.I. Joe. The movie was great! It's about bad people who created destructive weapons to take control over the world. G.I. Joes are the ones who can stop them since they have futuristic machines and weaponry that can match the enemies' equipments. They also got amazing auto and auto accessories, even cool accelerator suits. Very futuristic setup, indeed!

Channing Tatum's portrayal of Duke - the no. 1 Joe was superb! The last movie I remember him doing was Step Up 2 where he did a lot of crazy dance moves. As one of the G.I. Joes, he's got great action stunts too! Duke was a U.S. Army who, together with his friend Ripcord (Marlon Wayans) was tasked to deliver the warheads - a nanotechnology-based weapon that can destroy a whole city and was created by James McCullen (Christopher Eccleston). They were ambushed by the Baroness Ana Lewis (Sienna Miller) who happened to be Duke's ex-fiance. They were rescued by the G.I. Joes. Since Ana was involved in the ambush, Duke decided to become a G.I. Joe.

Guess who won in the end??? Well, apparently the movie hasn't ended yet. I am looking forward for more action and exciting futuristic setup in the sequel.

UP

The movie UP is about a 78-year-old balloon salesman who fulfilled his dream of having an adventure in his life by tying thousands of balloons to his house and flying up, up and away! Later on he discovers that on board with him is the cute-cuddly boy Russell who stowed away. He had no choice but to take the kid with him in the adventure of their lives.

This movie is very entertaining. I had fun watching it!

The Proposal...

The Proposal is a romantic comedy that I have watched twice last week. Lol! Yeah, been a bum these past few days. And yes! I am definitely a fan of Sandra Bullock.

The movie is about an ambitious executive editor-in-chief, Margaret Tate (Sandra Bullock) of a book publishing company who's about to be deported to Canada. She forces her assistant Andrew Paxton (Ryan Reynolds) to marry her. The latter accepts it with the condition of getting promoted as an editor of the company since he have painstakingly worked for her for years.

Both have to spend 3 days in Andrew's hometown in Alaska to tell his family about his marriage to his boss whom everyone knew he hated so much. They have to make everyone believe, including the immigration official, that they're in love with each other.

This movie is really fun to watch. Here's the trailer:
