Remembering 9/11/2001

I'm watching the History Channel right now. It's this time of the year , 9/11, that people around the world, especially the citizens of the United States of America, remember the most horrific terrorist attack. It was 10 years ago, September 11, 2001 when the World Trade Center was destroyed. Both towers collapsed right in the very eyes of the horrified spectators.

History Channel is airing the dreadful event which will always be remembered. I can feel for those who were there. It must have been very devastating. A lot of innocent people died. Some lost their lives for trying to save others. I'm having goosebumps while watching the videos taken during the dreadful day.

It happened 10 years ago. it was quite a while but I know people will never forget the terror brought about by the 9/11 attack.

She Should Have Gone To Rehab... :(

I was dumbfounded by the news that I came across with in the internet the moment I went online this morning. Although I somehow saw it coming, it's pretty ironic that I still got shocked about the news. It said - Singer Amy Winehouse Dies. The cause of death wasn't released to the press yet. She was found dead yesterday in her home. Personally, I speculate a drug overdose. What do you guys think? I mean, she's known for being an addict and a drunkard, isn't she?

The reason I got surprised is maybe because she's too young to die. She's only 27, about to turn 28, we're basically the same age. And she's a really great singer. Her style is unique and she's a really very talented musician. Well, she performs well when she's sober (she's drunk and high most of the time in her performances in YouTube). Sigh. She can make a lot of great music. Too bad she died in a very young age. Tsk, tsk!

Rehab could have saved her life. She should have gone there in contrary to the song that made her famous - REHAB. As a tribute to her, here's the song.

May you rest in peace, Amy.

Disappointed With Starbucks

I've been a fan of Starbucks! I like, best of all, the taste of their coffee. I now seldom purchase my favorite Grande Java Chip Frappe, but whenever I have money, I would always crave for one!

I like their service too. The way they call out my name when my coffee is ready to be served! And how their crews give that smile when the hand over to me my orders! I love the ambiance especially if it isn't the rush hour.

I felt disappointed when I heard the news about Starbucks getting sued because of firing a newly-hired barista just because she's a dwarf. According to the news, the barista asked for a stool or a metal step stool so she can perform her duties well. Apparently her request was not granted and got fired. Not a good idea, really!

I hope Starbucks will learn from this and will give equal opportunity to their employees.

Sad News At Work

A very sad news about an employee at work was circulated via email this morning. One of our colleague who works in a different department got shot to death in a bus on his way home from work last Saturday morning. It was reported that he refused to give his money to the armed men who held up the bus. It was just frightening that something like this happened early in the morning in a public transportation vehicle.

I haven't met that colleague but I really feel sad about what happened to him. It must have been very devastating news to his loved ones.

I am also a commuter and there are times that I feel scared about getting involved in a hold-up situation. Before I go to work, I always say a prayer for my safety. The world is just getting worst everyday. Let's hope and pray that this wouldn't happen to anyone of us.

My deepest condolence to Ralen's family.

Terror On Bus Explosion

A bus traveling along Edsa exploded in Makati yesterday. 5 were now reported dead and other passengers were injured and are still recuperating in the hospital. What a tragedy especially to those who lost their loved ones who were on-board the bus. And trauma to those other passengers who have a second chance to their lives.

How could someone do such a thing? Killing innocent people just to have the government's attention? It's just inhumane! I was watching the news earlier and I can't help but feel sorry for the families of the victims and the other passengers who lived to tell what happened during and after the explosion. It's scary. At one point, you think you're somewhere safe. But now, you'd prefer the long queue and the crowded train stations (LRT and MRT).

I went to a friend's house today not minding what happened yesterday. I really didn't know how serious it was because I haven't watched the news last night. I even rode a bus on my way to her house and noticed the place where the explosion happened. There were still some blood stains and flowers on that part of the street along EDSA.

I just learned everything when we watched the evening news while I was at Julie's house. I was thinking about riding the MRT but I still ended up in a bus on my way home. I was scared but I'm not very patient with waiting on a long queue at the MRT station. Since everyone preferred riding the train, the train stations are really crowded tonight.

The terrorists are just somewhere right now. Even if the government added security on bus terminals, anyone can still hop on and off the bus.

Let's just hope and pray that something like this won't happen anymore. God bless us all.

Cop Gone Mad - Quirino Grandstand Fiasco

I am utterly ashamed of the fiasco that had happened at Quirino Grandstand in Rizal Park, Manila yesterday. A dismissed police officer, Senior Inspector Rolando Mendoza, took all 25 people, most of them are Hong Kong tourists, on board a tourist bus as his hostage. His demand? To be reinstated to his previous post in the Manila Police District. He was axed because of misconduct. And what he did is the stupidest thing to do to get his job back!

After failed negotiations, Mendoza was already distressed. When he saw his brother and son being hauled by the police officers on TV in the bus, that's when he cracked up and executed some of his hostages.

Lots of gun shots followed inside the bus. It led the policemen and the MPD no choice but to assault the bus, even exchanged fire with Mendoza.

It ended with Mendoza dead with gunshot on his forehead by a sniper. Some tourists died too, some of them got lucky to be alive including the driver of the bus who managed to escape.

Who was to blame to this mishap? Is it the negotiators who wasn't able to handle the situation properly? The media who was there to cover the details of basically everything that was going on for the world to see? The policemen? Or Mendoza who had gone crazy and started all this in the first place?

I feel sorry for the victims on board especially to those whose lives were taken because of a cop-gone-mad! Still makes me feel disappointed and angry when I think about what happened yesterday. A wrong decision which ended up in tragedy and shame for our country!

Famous Octuplets Turned 1!!!

It's a BIG celebration for 8 babies of the "Octomom" Nadya Suleman. They just turned one on, Tuesday, Jan. 26, 2010.

"The six boys and 2 girls were healthy kids", according to lawyer Jeff Czech. They made quite a mess when they were round up in table. They all got their hands in the cake.

Imagine taking care of all 8 babies at the same time! Changing diapers, hushing each one of them when they cry. What about when they grow older? Imagine Nadya chasing each of them when they become silly? LOL! And adding up to her agony, the paparazzis all over her place! Other than the Octuplets, she also have 6 other older kids that she's taking care of.

The result? Octomom has become an octo-hot-mama! She actually appeared in a bikini on a cover of a magazine after losing 150 pounds!

Well, it's still a hell of job being an Octomom, isn't it?

Experience with Typhoon "Ondoy"

The typhoon "Ondoy" hit Metro Manila yesterday.

While I was at work, I never realized how hard the rain was until Lowela, Debbie and I were on our way home. The wait at a shed in Ayala Avenue was agonizing. The rain poured so hard and it was accompanied with strong winds. The umbrellas we brought didn't help us as we got all wet just standing for about an hour waiting for a ride home.

We hurried to a jeepney half thankful that one did came and halted right in front of us. To our dismay, the jeepney can't take us to our destination. Streets from Buendia going to Pasong Tamo were already flooded. We didn't have any choice but try and look for any other means to get home. Fortunately we found one!

Here's a photo of me and Lowela waiting for our ride.

Thank God we arrived home safely. We didn't report to work today since the flood hasn't subsided yet.

The typhoon was all over the news. Other parts of Luzon experienced worst conditions brought about by "Ondoy". According to the weather forecast, "Ondoy" is on its way to West Norwest of Luzon. The provinces of Pangasinan, Zambales, Bataan and Lubang Island will experience rains and gusty winds. I hope the Typhoon will finally get out of the country because it has already caused too much damages.

I feel sorry for those who lost their houses and who lost their loved ones during this tragedy. Please help me pray for my fellow countrymen who were greatly affected by this calamity.

Failon Arrested

ABS-CBN's news anchor and radio commentator Ted Failon was arrested at 12 midnight yesterday for tampering evidence and failure to immediately report to the police about the shooting of his wife, Trinidad Etong.

Failon's wife has already been declared dead last night after being comatose for hours because of the gun shot on her head which was allegedly reported as a cause of Trinidad's suicide.

This tragedy has brought controversy since Failon is one of the most respected public icon here in the Philippines. Failon had ordered his maid and houseboy to clean the bathroom where his wife was found covered in blood. Hence, speculations were aroused. All of the people who were at home at the time were arrested and are being questioned about the tragedy.

Investigations are still ongoing. The inconsistencies of Failon's statements added to the stir of doubts. He remained one of the suspects of the crime along with all the people who were at home during the incident.
